Linux X window configuration

The X windows package installed by the Mandrake 8.0 CD is XFree86 4.0.3. It works perfectly and drives the display at 1024x768 at 24-bit colour.

My standalone X config file is available. By standalone I mean the laptop is displaying on the built-in display and is not docked and driving an external display.

I dock my laptop into the mini-dock unit at work, and I have an external keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it. My monitor at work is a very nice HP A4331A unit which will display up to 1600x1200 resolution. My eyes must be getting weak though, because I can no longer see text at that resolution - it's too small!

My docked X configuration is available. NOTE: you will definitely need to tweak this for your own monitor setup.

Use the XFdrake and xvidtune programs to test and tweak your X configuration.
